Krugle Beta – Initial thoughts

After about a month of waiting i finally got accepted into the krugle beta program. I took a look at it and my first thoughts are this will be a great feature for speeding up some code development time. For those of you not in the know, Krugle is a search engine for coders. Its allows a person to search through numerous svn and cvs repos, to find a piece of code that you may need. It also has three distinct search functions, Code, Tech Pages and Projects.

The code search function allows a user to search through code. An end user would type in something to search for, ie "Sendmail" and select options like the program language. Once the search is doesn't it will return results in a list display that shows were the code came from and instances of the word you searched for. From their you will be able to look at full source files.

The tech documents search function is a lot like a standered search engine, and will search through project sites and other things for your context. Once a search is returned you will see a list of links, and content.

The last search feature is the Projects search function, this feature allows you to find various projects from source forge and triges, and other related sites.

All in all this seems like a solid engine and a solid idea. I will test it out in the following week and get back with an update.
